This will be a short journal post.

The weather is sadistic. That's all there is to it. It's sunny and a perfect temperature all week, while I'm stuck in an office, then on the weekend, it gushes down rain. This makes any outdoor sports or general 'let's go out and have some fun i the sun' enjoyment an impossibility.
Bitching over now.

At the moment I'm hustling to complete 4 commissions, most of which are multi-page ones. Plus sketching some new comics, some as gifts, some for just here.
Namely, the conclusion tot he Beach Rivalry comic, and the prequel to it that explains why the Iguana Lady did what she did to herself in the first place.

There's another Millie (the Tank Model Vixen) confropnts the Fanboy's mindset comic coming to.

It's cold out, I'm stuck in an office all day and I'm pining for Spring. I need warm weather now man!
Don't get me wrong, I love Winter, but when Winter is a line of stop start warm today cold tomorrow fake-outs with bupkis for snow fall, it gets old REAL fast.
I have been lugging a couple of skimboards in my trunk for two years now without ever getting a chance to whip them out and ride. Until last weekend.
My old skimboard is now also a sandboard! Well, kinda. For those who don't know what a sandboard is, picture snowboarding down a huge sand dune. That's pretty much it. Sandboards are made of thicker wood than a skimboard, waxed on the underside (not the deck=top) with paraphin wax (not surf wax which is applied to give the deck some traction) and strap to your feet (unlike a skimboard that has no straps).

The runs I had down the dunes were pretty decent, with plenty of abrupt stops along the way due to the fact that skimboards are pretty much flat with just a little rocker to them (rocker=upward curve), so it nosed into the sand a lot.

I had a few good runs downhill (downdune?). Enough to convince me to buy a cheap Kmarty snowboard and a block of paraphin wax and try again. If I buy the right shape of board, I may be able to ride to the bottom of the dune in one run. Why a Kmart board rather than a real sandboard or a better snowboard sold a surf/snow show?

The only downside to sandboarding, no chairlift to get you back up. You have to hike your butt up there. That's what makes it the ultimate excercise. After one day of it, you feel like you went 10 rounds with Chuck Norris.Of course Norris wins. I know my internets.
If all goes well with the cheapo box store board, I may build one of my my own. We'll see.

Comp update: RAM's maxed out. Second 22" screen successfully joined to it for a total 46" screen space. NOw I just have to load it with software.

Well, it's here..

So far this is the best computer I've ever owned. Very fast and a screen that's more like a window than an LCD.
Next up, upgrading the RAM to 4 gigs.
Then gathering the software for it. Lots of software. Oy.
First, Photoshop. Then, Dreamweaver, then Toon Boom.

How the heck did this happen?
I'm rapidly approaching 100,000 hits on this page! O.o
Gee, it happened all around the time I posted the 'Beach Rivalry' toon. ( [link] )
Hmm. I wonder if they have anything to do with each other.
Let this be a lesson to ya kids. If you want a jump in hits, draw..*insert naughty rhyme here*.

If anyone knows how you can tell which viewer is the 100,000th one, please let me know so I can draw that lucky bloke a ceremonial toon.

The Beach comic will continue and doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. Many have worried if there will be a pop in there at some point. At least one seems inevitable, so look out.

For all the people I have begun commissions for, I am still hammering away at them. I'm just kinda all over the place at the moment. They will be finished though.

As for my desktop, I'm upgrading to a 24" iMac and hopefully getting Toon Boom to go with it. So there will be new animations in '08 I hope. Stay tuned.

*UPDATE*
I wake up this morning to a counter that says '99,999'. So, like the dummy I am, I hit refresh. Then..


*nervous laugh*
