It's that time of year, and that means two things...
One.) My homepage changes into its Halloween Mode.

Each year I carve 12-20 pumpkins for friends, family and myself. I also make custom patterns for others to.
Portraits from photographs, team logos, cartoon characters, celtic designs, animals, you name it!

Sometimes I appear at local farms and do custome carvings for patrons and give advice on how to carve a really neato Jack O'Lantern.
I have a lot to chop up and lots of ideas. Let the season begin!!
(Word to the wise, get yourself a real jigsaw blade to carve with. I used to break three or four of those .99 cent pumpkin-carving kiddie saws a year until I got a real one.)

I used a fungicide called Pumpkin Dunkin. It's hard to find, but a web search will get you the comany.
I also use diluded bleach to preserve my pumpkins. Just leave the carved pumpkin out for an hour so so some of the surface moisture on the inside and cut sections dries away. Then spray the bleach onto the exposed portions. Wipe the uncut skin portions with the bleach and the whole pumpkin should last a couple of weeks longer. Also, keep it int he fridge when not in use to extend it's lifespan.

I actually never thought of using a jigsaw... I just sort of harassed my lino cutter through the whole process. It's a good idea, though!

You just have to be patient when carving it. It's a bit more difficult than the ral thing.
